Have new man made fibre carpet. Is it true that in order to retain the pile you should not hoover while new?

Fibers are going to come loose regardless. It is just a characteristic of new carpet. I would vacuum. Soil is an abrasive like sandpaper and scratches and dulls carpet fibers. The more soil you remove the less it will wear.
