Teachers, what are some consequences you have in place for negative clroom behavior?

I am switching schools and grade levels next year and need to establish consequences for negative clroom behavior at the 5th grade level. Two things I would like to avoid are taking away recess time (kids and teachers both need a break every few hours) and punishments that involve writing (they teach kids that writing is a punishment). What consequences do you have in place in your clroom?
