Studying abroad in Australia help!?

I'd love to study abroad in Australia from July 08 to November 08 in either the Gold Coast or Melbourne. From what I've read, the weather is nicer in the Gold Coast and the beaches are beautiful, but Melbourne is pretty much the entertainment capitol. Where should I go? Any help is greatly appreciated!
